Big Belly Solar Compactor

The BigBelly Solar Powered Compactor Street bin is revolutionising the manner in which Councils can now reduce costs and improve efficiencies in the collection of street bins.

The BigBelly Solar compactor consists of a BP solar panel, with a twenty year warranty, which powers a 12v battery, which in turns provides the power for an internal compactor. There are two volume sensors within the bin and when the rubbish reaches a certain level, the sensors trigger the compactor. Each BigBelly takes up roughly the same "footprint" of an ordinary street bin but because of its compaction capability it can hold a minimum of 606, increasing to 800 litres of waste, up to eight times more capacity than the average street bin used by most local authorities.

Recycling Bins

Recycling bins connected in a kiosk configuration to the BigBelly solar compactors provide a better approach for capturing valuable recycling materials. Diverting recyclables from the landfill means lower disposal costs, less landfill material and capturing recyclable commodities creates a revenue stream for each council. The side-by side configuration encourages higher recycling rates, which economically benefits each council, school or park, reduces the burden on the environment, and inspires the general public, students and tourists to follow the leadership of the local council, university or tourism site.

Wireless System

An additional Wireless Monitoring System option is also available which enables the BigBelly when it fills to 85% of it capacity, to send a text and/or email to the relevant division informing them that its ready for emptying. This provides a comprehensive re scheduling platform that can enable a reduction in collection costs of 70%. Each customer is giving a username and password to access a remote server. By simply clicking on the map of your streets or parks you can locate each bins and read the operational data each unit is generating.
